Napoli current Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has committed his future to the club, but fans have been surprised by his new salary.

The Georgia winger has quickly become one of European football's most exciting attackers, scoring 12 goals and providing 15 assists in a brilliant season for Napoli.

Napoli are 19 points ahead of Serie A leaders and look set to win their first Scudetto since Diego Maradona in 1990.

They also reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with some making them the dark horses for the competition.

Kvaratskhelia has suddenly hit Europe like a hurricane after signing from Dinamo Batumi in the summer, with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain keeping an eye on him. However, it is now reported that the 22-year-old has agreed a new contract at Napoli. Santi Aouna claims he must sign an agreement keeping him at the club until 2028 and there will be no release clause.

However, many people expected a significant pay increase in this deal and were stunned at what Kvaratskhelia would earn.

His annual salary is 4 million euros per year, including bonuses. This equates to around £67,000 per week. One person said:

"4 million? In the Premier League, he'll get double that."

Another added:

"And think in the Premier League the big six clubs could easily pay him double or even triple."

A third did not hold back, writing:

"That's a poor salary for a supposed superstar."

Fourth scale:

67,000 a week INCLUDING bonuses… no wonder players want to switch to PL.”

Fifth person says:

"Then I won't see him in PL for at least half a decade."

One end user commented:

"What a terrible contract. 5 years for 75-80k a week with no release clause. This guy could have doubled that if he had a good agent."
