The two giants of Premier League football meet again on Saturday, with Manchester City hosting Liverpool.
It was a match that turned into a modern day rivalry, as both sides battled for titles relentlessly, breaking numerous records along the way. All in all, City have won glory at the end of these epic campaigns, despite Liverpool having a good head-to-head record against their next opponents.
Jurgen Klopp has 12 wins compared to Pep Guardiola's 10 in their previous matches, and the weekend is another chance for both managers to show off the genius they possess. The match this time around could still affect the title destination, although Liverpool's relatively poor season has seen them move away from this particular fight. Instead, a win for Man City would put pressure on leaders Arsenal, who will play later today against Leeds. The Merseyside Reds will be looking for three points to help them save a Champions League spot, when they are behind Tottenham and Newcastle when things remain stable.
Over the years, both teams have won memorable victories against each other. In particular, at Etihad, Man City has thrived and they hope to be able to repeat some past performances to add another happy day to the history books.
Here, MEN Sport takes a look at some of the best clashes between the two sides over the years. Liverpool 1-3 Man City (1981, Premier League)
Anfield has not been City's happy goalscoring ground over the years, but when they marched to Merseyside shortly after Christmas, they faced a Liverpool languishing in the middle of the table. Rookie Bruce Grobbelaar shivered throughout the game, giving City a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Asa Hartford and Kevin Bond.
An effort near the post by Kevin Reeves earned three points, after a consoling goal from Ronnie Whelan. It was a game that saw Phil Thompson lose the Liverpool captaincy for his part in Man City's defeat and victory that ended up being all the sweeter against the eventual champions, who won 63 of the next 75 points.
Manchester City 2-1 Liverpool (2019, Premier League)
Before the much-awaited match, Liverpool were 7 points ahead of their opponents, only dropping 6 points after 20 matches. But the goals of Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane, either side of a Roberto Firmino-class player, mean City have bragging rights.
And that's even more important, as City won the title with a single point, propelling Liverpool into the lead in one of the Premier League's biggest games. City have won 18 of their last 19 games, but it all could have been very different had John Stones been unable to stop Sadio Mane's effort from the 12-inch mark, a highlight that has cemented the game in football lore.

The game was noticed by Sadio Mane's red card shortly before half-time, with a high footed goal forcing Ederson off the field. But City have taken a 1-0 lead at this stage, after Sergio Aguero's trademark finish. Gabriel Jesus added another almost immediately after the suspension.
