Manchester City is currently one of the best football clubs in the world and has been the best team in the English Premier League for the past five years. However, one title that continues to elude the team in the English Premier League is the UEFA Champions League. This was one of the main reasons why they signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund last summer.

Cityzens already have a very strong team but this team could be even stronger if they strengthen the midfield. The signings of Jude Bellingham and Alexis Mac Allister could prove to be the final piece of the jigsaw as RB Leipzig midfielder Josko Gvardiol could be signed to complement Ruben Dias at the back as Nathan Ake switched to left-back to replace Joao Cancelo. This means that Manchester City will have Ederson Moraes at goalkeeper, Nathan Ake at left-back, Kyle Walker at right-back and Gvardiol and Dias pairing up at the heart of defence.

The midfield will include Jude Bellingham in midfield while Mac Allister and Kevin De Bruyne will play further out. In attack, Phil Foden will play in the position of left winger, Erling Haaland will play as the striker while Jack Grealish will play in the right wing.

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount could leave Stamford Bridge this summer.

The England international could run out of contract with Chelsea at the end of next season and uncertainty over his future could lead to him being sold in the coming months.

Chelsea will not want to lose Mount on a free transfer, meaning they could be forced to spend money if there are no signs of change in new contract negotiations.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool are considered a good candidate to sign Mount, but Manchester United are also monitoring their situation closely.

The report states that Mount is interested in linking up with his former coach, Thomas Tuchel, who was recently appointed as Bayern Munich coach. Chelsea needs to start thinking about raising capital after spending more than £500m on signings since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital last year.

Verdict NS

I don't think a player like Mount is needed - so unless United think a deal is worth the money, I think we have other priorities in the transfer market that need to be focused.

Mount didn't excite me at all.
