Lionel Messi's camp has been contacted by Barcelona, according to vice president Rafa Yuste, over a potential summer return to Camp Nou.
Messi signed a two-year initial contract with Paris Saint-Germain when he left Barcelona in 2021, but he also had the option to extend it by an additional season. This option has not yet been exercised.
While Messi has received a new contract offer from PSG and has interest from MLS and Saudi Arabian clubs as well, 90min reports that Barcelona is optimistic in bringing Messi back to the team he previously played for for 21 years.
The 35-year-old Messi is in touch with Barcelona, and Yuste has now admitted that he wants to entice him back to Catalonia.
He told Sport, "Leo and his family know the love I have for them. "I took part in the negotiations, which sadly did not end in success.
"I can't believe Leo couldn't stay at our club. While discussing La Masia, Messi is always brought up. Of course, I would adore seeing him return for the potential sports, social, and economic benefits. because happy endings are necessary for great stories in life, I believe the fans agree as well. We adore Messi, and I believe he feels the same way about Barcelona and Bara. Indeed, we have communication with them.
Xavi, the team's manager, was quickly informed of Yuste's remarks but was eager to maintain the focus on his existing group.
Leo's comeback should not be discussed at this moment, Xavi stated. "Even though we talk frequently and I am his friend, now is not the right moment. Not for Leo's or the club's benefit. It's a topic that we're talking about. Although I have many pals, we are a long way from being able to achieve it.
Xavi went on to say, "I saw Messi develop. He is an example. There's usually going to be an illusion. Just like Michael Jordan, one last "Last Dance." People frequently experience excitement.
"I'm hoping to run into Leo at Bara again in some capacity. I'd be the first to welcome him back. He is the greatest player in history and this is the club of his life, but now is not the time to comment. We will be able to win two crowns in one month. Instead of discussing potential acquisitions or Messi, we should concentrate on Elche, Real Madrid, and the upcoming events."
Nonetheless, Yuste acknowledged that Barcelona still has a lot of work to do if they are to convince La Liga that they have the financial wherewithal to re-sign Messi.
Mateu Alemany and Jordi Cruyff in particular must work hard over the next two months to first deliver our viability plan to [La Liga president Javier] Tebas "The vice president nodded in agreement. "The relationship between the president and Leo's father is positive.
