Barcelona recover key defender from injury but call up three young players as injury continues to bite

Barcelona will likely find one of their key players for El Clasico on Wednesday, after Ronald Araujo was included in their squad to face Elche on Saturday.

The Uruguayan missed international duty due to a muscle strain but has returned to training, and Xavi Hernandez has revealed he will make a decision on his fitness tomorrow.

However, they still lack some players. Raphinha is suspended for the match against Elche, while Pedri, Andreas Christensen, Frenkie de Jong and Ousmane Dembele have yet to recover.

“We have quite a few players who are not feeling well but there are still days to go. We will try to recover. Pedri and Dembele, Frenkie… They leave tomorrow and then what they feel will be said,” Xavi revealed.

Young players Angel Alarcon, Aleix Garrido and Estnanis Pedrola have all been named in the Barca Atletic squad. The first has joined this season with Barcelona's first team, but Xavi has already explained what Pedrola and Garrido can bring.

"Estanis played skillfully on both flanks and Garrido had the last pass, lots of shots in, that's what we missed the most without Pedri."

Elche will make his debut under new coach Sebastian Beccacece against Barcelona. It looks like things will get easier for next season as Los Franjiverdes have only 13 points so far in the campaign. However, a Barcelona lack of personnel will be tested by the atmosphere of Martinez Valero.
