Real Madrid midfielder extended until 2027, the final decision on the future has not been made yet
Not so long ago, Manchester City probably boasted three of the most talented Under-18s in the same team. Led by Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho and Brahim Diaz complete this trio, all of whom are expected to lead the next generation at Man City.
As Foden's stock continued to rise, Sancho and Diaz had to leave the City to find greener pastures elsewhere. The first joined Dortmund in 2017, while the latter left Real Madrid in 2019.
However, joining and finding moments in Madrid is not an easy task. With the team overflowing with superstars, Diaz had to shorten 6 La Liga games in the 2019/20 season without contributing a single goal.
He left to join AC Milan in the summer of 2020 on a loan deal and has been with the Italian giants ever since. Three years and a Scudetto since then, Diaz will finally return to Madrid this summer.
According to Mario Cortegana (h/t Madrid Zone), Diaz will extend his contract at Madrid after returning from Milan. However, a final decision on his future has yet to be made. The Spaniard's current contract with Madrid is set to expire in the summer of 2025 but he seems determined to succeed with the reigning UCL champions.
A professional attacking midfielder, Diaz can also play on the wing, where he played briefly in Madrid.
While he is definitely back, it seems unlikely that Diaz will find a place in the already talented Real Madrid squad. Furthermore, if the reports are to be believed, Florentino Perez will likely look to invest even more money in the squad this summer.
