Julian Nagelsmann is on Chelsea's shortlist of candidates to replace Graham Potter but is unlikely to return to coaching this season, according to reports in Germany.
Potter's future at Stamford Bridge became even more precarious on Saturday when Chelsea lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League.
The defeat at Stamford Bridge - Chelsea's 10th Premier League defeat this season - leaves Potter's side 11 points ahead of fourth-placed Tottenham, but Newcastle United and Brighton can overtake Spurs if they win the remaining two games. again.
Chelsea were booed on the pitch after the final whistle after the Villa loss, while Potter was criticized for his tactics and selection of squad for the game.
According to Sky Germany, the Chelsea hierarchy continues to support Potter behind the scenes, however, Nagelsmann is on the club's radar after being sacked by Bayern Munich during the international break. Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg insists Tottenham, who sacked Antonio Conte last week, are not an option for Nagelsmann at this stage, while the 35-year-old is 'unlikely' to accept the new job right away.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have been criticized for their handling of Nagelsmann's departure.
Former Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder Lothar Matthaus has accused Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn of not speaking to Nagelsmann before learning of his dismissal from the media.
Kahn was adamant that he wanted to speak to Nagelsmann directly but was unable to because the 35-year-old was on a skiing holiday, and by the time he returned, news of Thomas Tuchel's appointment had spread.
Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic supported Kahn's version of events as he told Bild:
Shortly after we got engaged to Thomas Tuchel, I tried to get in touch with Julian once, twice, thrice. Then I called his manager. And then I called Julian again and joined him.
Oliver Kahn is completely telling the truth. And because of that, I put my hand in the fire!
"That's exactly what I explained in the press conference, that's exactly what I explained in the double pass. I don't see the need to talk about it anymore. I don't see the need to say more. . These are the facts that hold. It's the truth!'
However, the agency representing Nagelsmann told Sky Germany:
"There was no contact and no attempt to contact Bayern. The management of Julian Nagelsmann called Hasan Salihamidzic even after various rumors in the media.
