Gary Neville now believes Arsenal will win Premier League title this season if they win on Sunday
Gary Neville now believes Arsenal will win the 2022-23 Premier League title on one condition - if they beat Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday 9 April.
The Gunners travel to Merseyside to face Jurgen Klopp's men in their next game after beating Leeds United 4-1 at the Emirates on Saturday.
The top team Arsenal is currently 8 points ahead of the second ranked team Manchester City with 9 matches remaining, although Pep Guardiola's army has one match yet to play.
Arsenal, who haven't even broken into the top four since 2016, are trying to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
Manchester United legend Neville has long thought the north London club would not win the title and has backed Man City - which have won four of the last five top-flight titles - a view causing him to be criticized by Arsenal fans. But he seems to be softening his stance and now feels it's '50-50' and even believes the Gunners will get the job done if they beat Liverpool on Sunday.
"It's 50-50," Neville told Sky Sports. “My mind was certain that Manchester City would have won the league about six to eight weeks ago.
"I absolutely think now Arsenal will lose a lot of points and they won't be in the position they are in." But now I think it's 50-50. "I wouldn't put everything on the Liverpool game (April 9) but our coach used to say if you win at Anfield this time of year, you win the league."
"That has often been proven true. If Arsenal go to Anfield and win, I would say it will definitely be their title.
“The confidence that comes from that is phenomenal. Anfield is a horror of a place to go.
Arsenal and Man City will still have their opening match and confrontation at Etihad on April 26.
