City also expressed regret over songs sung by a section of their supporters in connection with the Hillsborough disaster during yesterday's clash, insisting such songs have no place in the game. Recalling that message, a spokesman for the Football Association criticized those involved.
“We are very concerned about the rise of hate speech at stadiums in connection with the Hillsborough disaster and other football-related tragedies. These exhortations are deeply offensive and deeply upset the families, friends and communities affected by these devastating events and we strongly condemn this behaviour," the FA said.
