Brendan Rodgers has been let go because a relegation to the second division poses a severe threat to Leicester City.
By mutual consent, Brendan Rodgers has left Leicester City, which is now playing in the Premier League's bottom three.
In the 2020–2021 season, Rodgers guided Leicester to their first FA Cup victory, and the previous year, they advanced to the semifinals of the Europa Conference League. He is leaving the King Power Stadium.
With only two victories in their last 13 Premier League games, the Foxes have been a far cry from their earlier triumphs this season, placing them in the relegation zone.
Against fellow strugglers Crystal Palace on Saturday, Leicester suffered their sixth loss in their previous seven matches across all competitions as Jean-Philippe Mateta scored the game-winning goal in the 94th minute. The Foxes managed just three shots compared to the London team's 31.
After memorably winning the Premier League in the 2015–16 season, Leicester's owners have chosen to take action and end Rodgers' four-year tenure with the club with just 10 games left to fight for their top-flight survival.
Rodgers' duties will be taken over by first-team coaches Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell as the Foxes look for a new manager they feel can keep them in the division.
The team's accomplishments under Brendan's leadership speak for themselves; we've had some of our best footballing moments under his direction, and we'll always be grateful to him and his staff for the heights they helped us reach on the field, according to a statement from Leicester's chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.
"Off the field, Brendan embraced the Club's culture and contributed to creating a fantastic atmosphere for player development. His legacy at Leicester City is unquestionable.
"Unfortunately, the current season's performances and outcomes have fallen short of our collective hopes. We had assumed that consistency and stability would be essential to changing our direction, especially in light of our prior successes under Brendan's leadership.
