English Premier League club Chelsea sacked coach Graham Potter after only 6 months leading the Stamford Bridge team.

English Premier League club Chelsea FC sacked manager Graham Potter this evening, Sunday, April 2. His departure was announced in a statement posted on Twitter by the London club. Potter has only been in charge of Stamford Bridge for six months after replacing Thomas Tuchel.

Potter became the second victim of the day after Brendan Rodgers was sacked by Leicester City just hours ago. When he joined the Stamford Bridge side from Brighton, there were a lot of expectations around him, but his side have struggled this season.

Yesterday's 0-2 loss at home to Unai Emery's resurgent team Aston Villa was probably the straw that broke the camel's back. The Blues spent a lot of money on new players in the January transfer window, but the club are currently in the bottom half of the table with just 10 games left this season.

He read:

"Chelsea FC have announced that Graham Potter has left the club. Graham has agreed to work with the Club to facilitate a smooth transition. During his time at the club, Graham took us to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, where we will face Real Madrid."

"Chelsea would like to thank Graham for all his efforts and contributions and wish him well in the future. Bruno Saltor will take over as interim head coach."

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali said:

“On behalf of everyone at the club, we would like to thank Graham for his contribution to Chelsea. We have the utmost respect for Graham as a coach as well as a person. He has always behaved professionally and with integrity and we are all disappointed with the result.”

“Together with our amazing fans, we will all support Bruno and the team as we focus on the rest of the season. We have 10 Premier League games and a Champions League quarter-final coming up. We will put all our effort and commitment into each of these games so that we can finish the season on a good note.”
