Douglas Emhoff, Douglas Emhoff's spouse and the Vice President of the United States of America (USA), has assured that the current US administration is dedicated to working with its allies in Ghana and everywhere to enhance the rights and opportunities for women and girls.
Since "when you lift up women, you lift up the status of families, communities, economies, and all society benefits," he claimed, investing in the advancement of women is an investment in the future of nations throughout the globe.
In his remarks during the NBA Africa Girls Basketball Clinic on Monday at the Bukom Boxing Emporium in Accra, Mr. Emhoff emphasised that "advancement of women's and girls' position needs all of us, including men and boys."
"It is the strength of sports that propels our nation for all girls and women to have equal access and chance to participate," he said, adding that it was up to everyone to make society more inclusive via sports.

A partnership between NBA Africa and the US State department allowed for the first-ever NBA Africa Girls Basketball Clinic to take place in the nation.
Mr. Emhoff said that sports were frequently associated with men, although that was untrue.
He claimed that sports were open to women as well, but regrettably, prejudice against women in sports is still pervasive and accepted on a global scale.
"It is incorrect, as we are aware that sports are crucial in eliminating these gender disparities. We are aware that encouraging young girls and women in athletics would increase their self-confidence and self-esteem.
He emphasised, "Sports give you the strength you need to face life's obstacles and to have faith in yourself that you can achieve everything you set your mind to. So I want every young lady out there to know this: we believe in you."
Sports, according to him, may help to overcome social, racial, and cultural divides.
Democracy
We are here Ghana and throughout Africa, he continued, "to advance our common interests and enhance our democratic alliances."
He went on to say that was a follow-up to the US-Africa summit that had been conducted the previous year and that today's event—the basketball clinic—and their visit—were both a part of the Biden-Harris administration's attempts to continue the work that had been begun at the Africa summit.
This amplifies NBA Africa's resolve to support the growth of basketball in Africa starting at the grassroots level, which is crucial for the development of any sport.
The NBA Africa League, according to the Youth and Sports Minister, is significantly aiding the growth of African basketball players and clubs by providing them with a high-level competitive platform when before they would not have had access to such possibilities.
So, he suggested that the clinic will showcase Ghana's potential, particularly in female basketball.
Cornerstone
Mr. Victor Williams, the Chief Executive of NBA Africa, said that the junior NBA had been a cornerstone of NBA Africa's youth development programming, which had assisted his organisation in fulfilling its mission to empowering and expanding the possibilities for young females.
