Thomas Tuchel has acknowledged that because he no longer is familiar with life at Stamford Bridge, he would be unable to provide Julian Nagelsmann any advice over moving to Chelsea.
Under the former owner Roman Abramovich, Tuchel rose to prominence at Chelsea, but the new Todd Boehly-Clearlake Capital ownership decided to replace him with Graham Potter and gave him his marching orders early in the current season.
Just over a week after Tuchel's return to work at Bayern Munich six months later, Potter has also been fired.
Chelsea's interest in Julian Nagelsmann, who Tuchel replaced in Munich and who 90min says has emerged as the early favorite to fill the vacant Stamford Bridge position, has set off something of a managerial merry-go-round.
When asked if he would suggest Nagelsmann join Chelsea, Tuchel responded, "I saw the news [of Potter's departure] late yesterday night. It happened at a terrible time because I had an appointment here.
It took me some time to put Chelsea behind me. There, I made lifelong acquaintances and had a great time working. The club has undergone significant transformation, making it simpler for me to remove myself from it, thus it didn't really arouse strong feelings in me.
"The club has changed, so I couldn't advise Nagelsmann," the author said.
Given that Bayern Munich is close to finalizing a deal that would see the Chelsea coach reconnect with Tuchel, Anthony Barry may soon follow Potter out the exit door.
Chelsea is now looking for a new manager and is said to be interested in Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, and Ruben Amorim in addition to Nagelsmann.
The Premier League's highest-ever number of management dismissals is cheaper by the dozen.
On Sunday, Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers added their names to the list of Premier League managers who have been fired this year.
