Thomas Tuchel says the sacking of Graham Potter did not create "great emotions" in him as Chelsea have "changed a lot" since he was sacked by Todd Boehly in September.

The Blues are looking for a long-term successor to Potter at Stamford Bridge after they sacked the former Brighton manager on Sunday night. Potter has spent less than seven months in charge of the Premier League giants and witnessed a disappointing period as Chelsea fell to the bottom half of the Premier League. The 47-year-old has won just 12 of his 31 games in charge of Chelsea as the club's new owners have spent almost £600m on new signings this season.

The Aston Villa loss was Graham Potter's 11th loss in 31 games since replacing Thomas Tuchel on September 8. Recall that the German was sacked as the Blues finished sixth in the Premier League after a summer they spent £255m on transfers after winning three trophies in 20 months at Stamford Bridge, including the UEFA Champions League in 2021, as well as UEFA. Won the Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup – a first in the club's history.

The German coach admits that it has taken him a long time to recover from the sacking and that he took his first steps in management last week when he took over at Bayern Munich. Tuchel says he still has fond memories of Chelsea, but as Boehly co-owner he says Potter's sacking has not 'triggered' big emotions in him as the club has 'changed' '. "I watched the news very late last night," Tuchel said.

“The timing coincides with my appointment here. I really enjoy working there and making lifelong friends. "But the club has changed a lot, so it doesn't really arouse big emotions in me."
