According to insiders who spoke to 90min, Wolverhampton Wanderers are prepared to make an outrageous offer for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos.
The 26-year-contract old's expires this summer, so he is free to discuss terms with potential suitors.
Champions League participants Real are in talks with Ceballos about extending his contract; the club is confident about renewing, but there are ongoing concerns about his playing time at the Bernabeu. Real will play Chelsea in this year's tournament quarterfinals.
Indeed, Real Madrid have a swathe of quality options in midfield - Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga to name just four - and they have a strong interest in signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
Ceballos has enjoyed a run in the first team of late, putting in a number of impressive performances, but he has never started more than 13 La Liga games in a season for Real since arriving from Real Betis in 2017.
According to sources, Ceballos is once more drawing interest from English clubs, this time from Wolves, who are headed by former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui and are trying to improve their options in the center of the field.
Ruben Neves and Matheus Nunes may leave voids in the midfield, but Ceballos is a player who Lopetegui is known to admire. The two spent a few months together during the latter's brief stay in the Spanish capital. The Portuguese duo may be permitted to depart Molineux so that Wolves can reinvest as they are drawing significant attention from other clubs.
Wolves are preparing an approach for Ceballos, according to 90min, but they are well aware that they will need to convince him to leave Real Madrid for a team that is still vying for Premier League status. Any transfer will obviously depend on Wolves' success in that endeavor.
In addition to Real Betis wanting to re-sign Ceballos, Atletico Madrid is also interested in acquiring the player.
