Due to the Negreira affair, the LaLiga leaders are enveloped in controversy off the field, but Xavi's club is unaffected by this.
According to head coach Xavi, Barcelona remain unaffected by off-field issues related to the continuing Negreira affair.
The Catalan giants are the focus of a UEFA investigation, and prosecutors in Spain are pursuing charges against them for alleged corruption after it was claimed that they paid a company owned by Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira, a former vice-president of the Spanish refereeing committee, over €7 million.
LaLiga cannot pursue legal action because of a statute of limitations in Spain, but UEFA head Aleksander Ceferin said in a statement on Monday that no such limitations apply to their probe and emphasized the gravity of the situation.
Any misconduct has been refuted by Barcelona.
Yet Xavi insists that his team is unaffected by the claims.
"Sports-related matters are not discussed in the locker room. We discuss how to attack and protect. We are not discussing UEFA, Negreira, "He stated at a press conference prior to the second leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final matchup with Real Madrid.
"We are concentrating on the Cup because the Clasico is coming up, they will be seeking retribution, and we want to prove that we can win it again. The Camp Nou needs to be under pressure.
"I rarely pay attention to outside opinions since we place more value in ourselves. The president regards it highly. It matters what is stated outside if the boss is not pleased.
"Nothing should distract us from our goal of defeating Madrid and reaching the final tomorrow. Compared to previous season, we are considerably better."
Barcelona called on LaLiga president Javier Tebas to go on Monday due to allegedly fraudulent charges in the Negreira case, but Xavi declined to comment.
I don't know him, we've exchanged greetings a few times, and I don't really have an opinion, he continued.
