Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been given an eight-match ban for shoving referee Chris Kavanagh during last month's FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Reacting to teammate Willian being sent off, Mitrovic confronted Kavanagh and was taken by the referee, receiving an immediate red card.

The Football Association, which has deemed a three-match ban 'not enough', has now handed down a longer sentence.

A statement from Fulham read:

"Following a hearing regarding our FA Cup match against Manchester United last month, an independent governing committee has decided that:

Mitrovic was absent from Saturday's 1-2 loss to Bournemouth due to an initial suspension and will now be sidelined for another seven games.

The Cottagers will face West Ham, Everton, Leeds, Aston Villa and Manchester City in April, with Liverpool and Leicester their first opponents in May. This will leave Mitrovic with only three appearances before the end of the season against Southampton, Crystal Palace and Manchester United.

Mitrovic apologized to Kavanagh for the jostling but insisted he was just trying to get the official's attention.

Luis Enrique is one of the coaches linked with Chelsea to replace Graham Potter

Trusted Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano insists Luis Enrique is admired by Chelsea, who may want to make him a replacement for Graham Potter.

According to Romano, the former Spain national team coach is looking for a managerial position. He can agree to move to Stamford Bridge if the team has big aspirations and long-term vision.

With the Blues currently without a coach, Bruno Saltor has taken over as interim coach. He will continue to take on the role until the West London side find a new owner.

However, the club has been linked with many managers, including Mauricio Pochettino and Julian Nagelsmann. Chelsea take on Liverpool on Tuesday night in their first game since Potter was sacked.

However (h/t Football.London), Romano believes Chelsea can nominate Nagelsmann or Enrique. The transfer reporter had this to say about the former Spaniard's feeling:

The manager 'dreams' of working in the Premier League, hoping to return to work as soon as possible. He will need a long-term project and a clear plan that can work for both parties in the context of reported gains.

Considering that Enrique led Barcelona to a treble in his first season at the club and helped Spain reach the semi-finals of Euro 2020 and the final of the UEFA Nations League, he would be a good choice. for Chelsea. However, he could not perform as poorly as he did against Spain in Qatar.

It would be pointless to discuss his managerial experience at AS Roma and Celta Vigo, as even Pep Guardiola has struggled to play against Manuel Pellegrini's league-winning side until the overhaul. Time must be given to Enrique or anyone else assigned to this role.

The Spaniard's success at Barcelona and helping the team win the Champions League shows that he is capable of managing players with big personalities. And if he signs for the Blues, he has talented players who can achieve more trophies.
