Tielemans is linked with Liverpool

Liverpool are said to have 'unplugged' a deal for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, whose contract expires this summer.

The Belgium international will leave the Foxes at the end of this season when his current contract expires.

Tielemans has overcome a difficult period at AS Monaco in Ligue 1 to establish himself as one of Leicester's most important players.

He has deserved a lot of praise for his performance over the past two years. It is somewhat surprising that he did not leave Leicester last summer when he was available for around £30m. Arsenal have been looking for a centre-back in the past year and they have been contacted by the Tielemans.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Arsenal had 'abandoned' negotiations with the player's agent. Indeed, this midfielder has a "huge salary claim".

Now Football Insider reports that Liverpool 'will not pursue the Tielemans this summer'.

The club's hierarchy has 'terminated a potential deal' because 'Jurgen Klopp's recruitment team analyzed the player but did not consider him mobile enough'. Liverpool "will still be looking to sign a number of central midfielders in what promises to be a major overhaul in the near term".

The report goes on to suggest "Jude Bellingham and Mason Mount top their shopping list".

The Reds face stiff competition in the race for Bellingham's signature. Manchester City and Real Madrid are also interested in him.

Speaking last month, journalist Ben Jacobs insisted Liverpool had an 'advantage' over Real Madrid in the battle for Bellingham. "With that trust and relationship, they believe they can sell based on the project and ambition of the club and the manager rather than just what they're doing or haven't achieved until the end of the season. . Then, Bellingham will be a big priority for Liverpool," Jacobs told TEAMtalk.

"They will face Real Madrid and also Manchester City and some believe that Manchester United, especially under the new owner, can also come into the balance. Chelsea are there; they are the players. small, they are certainly not serious opponents at this stage.

"And Liverpool's advantage as a Premier League club is that they can blow Real Madrid away for the price they're willing to pay, whereas with Real they'll still be in the Bellingham equation, hopefully. hoping they'll be able to get it for x or under 100 million, which seems pretty ambitious right now.
