Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp
A shocking report from France has claimed that Jurgen Klopp's side have held 'unofficial' talks to become the next manager of a European giant who could sign a contract. with Jude Bellingham this summer.
Twelve Premier League managers have been sacked this season, with Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter the latest to be sacked on Sunday.
Jurgen Klopp is among those still in charge, although the German tactician recently joked that his time could soon run out amid a dismal campaign at Anfield.
"The elephant in the room is why I'm still sitting here in this crazy world," Klopp said when asked about Rodgers and Potter.
“The last man standing (the longest serving manager in the Premier League). He added:
"I know that I'm sitting here because of the past, not because of what we've done this season.
"If it was my first season, it would be a little bit different. Yes, we have smart owners who know the situation well. Better ask them why it is!
Klopp's contract at Merseyside is set to expire until 2026. So far, there is no indication he is ready to end his legendary term with the club. However, according to a notable report from French outlet Le 10 Sport, that has now changed.
They claim that Klopp is starting to feel the situation at Liverpool is 'fragile' and as such 'probably' thinks this summer is the right time to leave.
If this scenario comes true, the 55-year-old won't have to wait long before finding his next club.
Klopp joins Bellingham at Real Madrid?
10 Sport added that Klopp has been installed as Real Madrid's 'priority' target to replace Carlo Ancelotti under pressure. Ancelotti led Real to win the La Liga and Champions League double last season. However, the past doesn't matter much at the Bernabeu and with Barcelona racing for the league this season, Ancelotti is feeling the heat.
Real also scored against Barça after the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final. Failure there - plus a Champions League failure - would probably be the end of Ancelotti.
The information of the French newspaper originates from the fact that French legend Zinedine Zidane is also said to be a candidate to succeed Ancelotti. However, they firmly insist that Klopp is the preferred choice in the Real hierarchy.
Finally, it was even claimed that Klopp's side had 'unofficial exchanges' with the Spanish side.
One way Real could help their careers is by promising to sign Klopp's favorite Jude Bellingham.
The Englishman has a huge fan following at Klopp and is Liverpool's No. 1 transfer target this summer.
However, failing to qualify for next season's Champions League could negatively affect their chances of staging a coup worth more than £100m. If the Red Devils miss out, Man City and Real Madrid are known to be waiting behind the scenes.
Either way, it's important to note that the report admits enticing Klopp away from Anfield would be 'complicated'.
As mentioned, Klopp has publicly expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool and his recent transfer comments suggest he is considering who to bring to Anfield this summer, not the Bernabeu.
"We will get through the summer, that's what I can say, for sure," said Klopp (over 90 minutes). “For sure the club will spend the summer. “For whom and how much? There's really nothing to say about it…we're busy, you can imagine.
At least for now, Liverpool fans don't need to worry about losing one of their all-time great managers at the end of 2023.
