Anytime the list of nominees for the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is released , it comes with so much controversies and questions to be answered. Many artistes are not happy about the categories they are nominated in .
As such when organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs),Charterhouse released the list of nominees for the 24th edition of the awards few weeks back, once again many questions were asked about the nominees for the New Artiste of the Year category.
For the New Artiste of the Year category , the likes of Lasmid, Djay,Malcolm Nuna. Jay Bahd, Ewura Abena , DJ Azonto and Chief One were nominated but entertainment players and stakeholders indicated that Jay Bahd should not have been nominated in the New Artiste of the Year category.
Due to the one-week window available for Charterhouse to make changes in the list of nominees, they decided to review the New Artiste of the Year category.
After deliberating on the issue for a week , Charterhouse has taken a decision and it has been made known that Jay Bahd is not eligible as a nominee for the New Artiste of the Year category.
According to the Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Jay Bahd is not new to the scheme and this is due to the fact that he shared nomination on Yaw Tog’s ‘Sore’ which was nominated in the Collaboration of the Year category in 2021.
The Board of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards has also indicated the Jay Bahd and his team have been informed about the fact that he is not eligible to be included in the New Artiste of the Year category for this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
This year's Vodafone Ghana Music Awards is set to be held on May 6, 2023 at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre and would be live on TV3.
