During the much-anticipated Nominees Announcement Show for the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, the organizers made a significant announcement. They stated that a provisional window of one week would be provided to address any errors and omissions made during the nomination process. This announcement was made with the aim of ensuring a fair and transparent scheme, and it received positive responses from the music industry stakeholders. Subsequently, after the announcement, the Board received numerous submissions from several well-meaning stakeholders. These submissions raised various concerns about the nomination process, and the Board took time to carefully review and address each of them. Among the submissions, the one that drew a lot of public attention was the nomination of Jay Bahd in the Best New Artiste category. However, after a thorough deliberation, the Board made a decision that Jay Bahd was ineligible for the category. The Board based this decision on the fact that Jay Bahd had a shared nomination on Yaw Tog's hit song, 'Sore,' for Collaboration of the Year in 2021. This means that Jay Bahd is not new to the VGMA scheme, and as such, he is not eligible to be nominated in the Best New Artiste category. The Board has since rectified this error, and they have communicated the decision to Jay Bahd and his team. The Board also expressed its gratitude to Academy Member Austin Woode for correcting the oversight during the Errors and Omissions window. The Board acknowledged the contributions of all the stakeholders who made submissions during the one-week window, and they are hopeful that this will result in a more robust scheme for the industry. In line with their commitment to ensuring an excellent scheme, the organizers have scheduled the VGMA Review to take place within 90 days after this year's edition. This review provides an avenue for stakeholders to share their ideas and concerns about the scheme, and they can do so by emailing info@ghanamusicawards.com.
Finally, the organizers of the 24th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have rescheduled the grand finale of the event to take place on May 6, 2023. The event will hold at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre, and it will be broadcasted live on TV3 and the Ghana Music Awards social media platforms.
