Steve Cooper will continue to lead Nottingham Forest, according to a statement the club posted.

After the 2-1 loss at Leeds United dropped Forest to just one point above the relegation zone, 90min reported that talks would be held about Cooper's future at The City Ground. Club owner Evangelos Marinakis says the team "wishes to end the speculation."

There were more allegations that Forest had decided to break ways with Cooper, but Marinakis has denied those claims and has publicly backed the former Swansea manager.

No one disputes the challenging Premier League situation in which our Club finds itself, but Marinakis stated, "We desire to put a stop to the speculation and the inaccurate and disruptive information in the media to confirm that Steve Cooper remains our manager at Nottingham Forest.

"Recent performances have left us all unimpressed, and it is obvious that much work needs to be done to quickly fix this. Outcomes and performances need to get better right away.

"Now is the moment for everyone associated with our club—from us as the owners to the board, to our fans, backroom staff, coaches, and players—to band together and strive to maintain our Premier League position.

Distractions, rumors, and speculation cannot be allowed. There is just enough time for hard effort, perseverance, commitment from Steve and the players to achieving the outcomes we require, and, of course, the ongoing, exemplary support of the Nottingham Forest supporters.

Forest lost at Elland Road, marking their eleventh road loss in 14 Premier League games, the poorest mark in the league. They have only managed five goals on the road and have given up a staggering 34 goals, but due of their substantially better home performance, they are in the running to stay in the division.

Forest are now on an eight-game streak without a win in the Premier League while frequently picking up points on their home field. Currently, only seven points separate Southampton at the bottom of the standings from 12th-place Crystal Palace. Leeds' victory last night moved them up the standings from 19th to 13th, passing Forest in the process.
