According to 90min, Chelsea may go to former player and manager Frank Lampard as a temporary fix to their head coach difficulties.

Graham Potter was let go by the Blues late on Sunday night as a result of a disastrous run of results that included a weekend loss to Aston Villa at home by a score of 2-0.

Co-owners Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital decided to remove Potter from his position when the team fell to 11th in the standings, and Bruno Saltor was given interim leadership.

Bruno, who relocated from Brighton to Chelsea in September, is understood by 90min to wish to remain devoted to Potter. Prior to and to Tuesday's 0-0 draw with Liverpool, he frequently made mention of the former manager.

90min knows that Chelsea may look to fan favorite Lampard if they need to find a new interim manager while they look for a permanent replacement.

Between 2019 and 2021, the Blues' manager was the club's all-time leading scorer. During his 18-month tenure, he stabilized Chelsea through their global transfer restriction and promoted young players, but their performance plummeted after lavish expenditure on players like Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech.

After that, Thomas Tuchel took over for Lampard and, five months after entering, won the UEFA Champions League.

The former midfielder, who is presently unemployed after being fired by Everton in January, attended Chelsea's 0-0 draw with Liverpool on Tuesday at Stamford Bridge, though insiders have told 90min that this was not related to a future return to work.

Frank Lampard's track record as Chelsea's manager Lampard was hired in 2019 following a good debut season in charge of Derby County, when he took the Rams to the Championship play-off finals before losing to a talented Aston Villa team.

Lampard's Chelsea outperformed expectations and finished fourth in the Premier League in his first season back at Stamford Bridge, albeit they were narrowly defeated by Arsenal in the FA Cup final.
