Once upon a time there was an animal kingdom with the antelopes as king. One day Hare, the craftiest animal in the kingdom, went to tell the king that the animals had been gossiping too much about each other. "All this gossip is very bad" he said, so I have brought some medicine for us. Anyone who drinks it and gossip will die at the stop. King Antelope was the first to drink the medicine and they all drunk it.
Hare had a plan to trick the other animals, so he went to the river and started weeding the grass at the riverbank. He knew that everyone would want to know what he was doing. Elephant was the first to see him. He thought hare must be crazy, and forgetting the medicine that he had drunk, he went to gossip about hare. No sooner had he finished than he fell down dead.
Hare and his friends use elephant meat to prepare delicious meals. When it was finished he went back to the river and started weeding again. Soon, another animal forgot himself and went to gossip about Hare's farm in the river. Hare continued to trick the animals for one month and had many good meals.
Now there live a clever little turtle in the river, who had been watching Hare playing his evil tricks. One morning he came out of the river and greeted Hare. Hare responded and asked: "Where are you going turtle? and turtle replied: " I am going to monkey's house to plait my hair." As soon as Turtle left, Hare said to himself: "Ah! If we do not die soon we will hear wonderful things. Turtle, what hair do you have to go and plait? I thought I could have you in my soup today, but you are going to plait your hair, and what hair do you have on that ugly head of yours?
Hare did not know that turtle was listening to what he was saying. As soon as he finished talking he fell down and died. Turtle went to call all the other animals. They were happy to see their enemy dead. That day they all put their hands together and prepared a delicious soup with Hare. That is why our elders say "Do not do to your neighbour what you do not want to be done to you.
Moral lesson. Do not do to others what you do not want others to do to you. Thank you.
