Zinedine Zidane would have 'definitely' turned down chance to manage Chelsea, according to Emmanuel Petit
Zinedine Zidane is said to have 'definitely' turned down the job at Chelsea, according to Emmanuel Petit, who has given insight into the former Real Madrid manager's thoughts.
It was announced on Thursday that Frank Lampard will return to the Stamford Bridge team as caretaker manager of Chelsea, just two years after being sacked by the Premier League club.
"I want to play the best role I can and then we'll see what happens," said Lampard. "I'm not advancing anywhere above myself."
He added:
“I understand that I will be asked this question often. It's important for me to park the car and focus on the job at hand."
According to reports, Chelsea are expected to evaluate up to seven candidates for the permanent job, including Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino and Ruben Amorim.
But the one who will 'definitely' turn down the role is Zinedine Zidane. Well, that's according to former Chelsea and France midfielder Emmanuel Petit.
"Zidane, he certainly won't come," Petit told Stadium Astro. "You know why? Because he doesn't speak English."
A little more:
“I have known Zidane for a long time and the way he treats the players, he is very close to his players, he always talks to his players.
"He wants communication to be his first priority, which is very important to him. He doesn't want anyone to translate everything he says publicly. It's that simple."

Before Petit could comment, former Chelsea defender Glen Johnson said Chelsea could have made a statement and 'excited everyone' by bringing in Zidane.
"When we're talking about people walking through the door and making an immediate impact, so what if Zidane walked through the door of Stamford Bridge and walked into that dressing room - that's a statement. dad,” Johnson told DAZN Bet. "Whether he wants to do it or not is another question, but I think it will get people excited.
"It depends on where he is in life, because I'm pretty sure he's having a great time!
"When you put the best players into the best coaches, there's nothing that man hasn't done that's going to have a huge impact and be hugely exciting for everything Chelsea-related."
Who will be the next Chelsea manager?
