Montpellier v Paris St Germain - Stade de la Mosson, Montpellier, France - February 1, 2023 Lionel Messi of Paris St Germain celebrates scoring his first goal then disallowed after VAR review

From Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo stats to groundbreaking facts about the beautiful match itself, you won't believe some of these facts are real.

We are blessed with more football than ever before and over the past decades we have seen some truly amazing football statistics.

We've looked through the years and picked out 11 soccer stats you won't believe are real.

1. Neymar won La Liga's Player of the Month award ahead of Lionel Messi

This is a bit nerve-wracking. Believe it or not, the Argentine genius only won the Player of the Month award in January 2016.

A side note to this indicator is that the price itself didn't exist until September 2013, but that's still a disturbing fact. No less than 17 different players won the award before Messi finally got his hands on it in early 2016.

2. Dundee United have 100% win rate against Barcelona

The Scottish side have faced the Catalan club four times and they have won each time. Dundee United are the only English team to have this incredible record against Barcelona.

They scored twice in the 1966-67 season, beating the Spanish giants at home and away in the Europa League. They then tried to repeat the same feat in 1986-87.

3. Philipp Lahm free all year

The German legend is a master at the game and he didn't dip the ball unnecessarily. In the Bundesliga, he somehow went from September 2014 to October 2015 without making the slightest mistake.

After knowing this statistic, it should come as no surprise to learn that Lahm has not been sent off during his entire career for either club or county. It is a gem of a player.

4. Mark Hughes plays two games in one day

Today, he is known as a manager, but back then Hughes was a brilliant player. Amazingly, he played two games on the same day in November 1987.

He played his first game for Wales in the midday game against Czechoslovakia, before being flown on a plane to play for Bayern Munich later that day. Hughes didn't arrive in time for the first half but was brought on as a second-half substitute and then made history.

5. Chris Nicholl scored all four in a 2-2 draw

In March 1976, Nicholl scored four goals in a 2-2 draw between Aston Villa and Leicester City. He put Leicester ahead twice by owning an own goal before equalizing each time.

"So after scoring four goals in that 2-2 draw, I asked the referee if I could get the ball. No, the referee said. "This is my last game and I'm keeping it. ball." conjecture. My first hat-trick in a Villa shirt and I didn't even get the ball.

6. Rogerio Ceni has scored 131 goals as a goalkeeper

That's more than some strikers manage in their careers. The Brazilian goalkeeper was the penalty taker and the penalty was assigned to Sao Paulo.

His best scoring year was in 2005 when he scored 21 goals in all competitions, which is absolutely ridiculous. Ceni made 17 appearances for Brazil but never scored an international goal.

7. Timo Werner has more Champions League goals than R9

Considered one of the greatest players of all time, Ronaldo Nazario has only scored 14 Champions League goals in his illustrious career, three fewer than Werner.

Ronaldo has also never touched a trophy like Werner won it with Chelsea in 2020-21.

8. Jose Mourinho has gone 9 years without losing a game at home

The special was actually built differently at the time. In 150 league games, Mourinho did not lose a single home match between 2002 and 2011.

At that time, he managed Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid. A truly amazing statistic.

9. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored more goals in his 30s than Wayne Rooney in his entire career

Somehow, the Portuguese marksman became even more prolific in his later years. Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal reacts during the football match between the Luxembourg national team and Portugal, on Sunday, March 26, 2023 in Luxembourg City, Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

10. AC Milan won Serie A with only 36 goals

The league champions are often considered the team with the most goals, but that was not the case with AC Milan in the 1993-94 season. Amazingly, they won the championship having only scored 36 goals all season.

To be fair, they have an excellent defensive record, conceding only 15 goals all year. Even more bizarre, that year Udinese and Atalanta scored only 1 goal less than Milan but were relegated narrowly. 11. Manchester United have never lost a PL game at Old Trafford despite taking the lead in the first half

Away teams rarely overlook anything when playing at Old Trafford and this statistic summarizes United's incredible home record. Under Erik ten Hag so far, they have only lost one game at home.
