Before to Manchester City's weekend trip to face Southampton, Erling Haaland has demonstrated his fitness.
Erling Haaland will be able to play for Manchester City against Southampton on Saturday, according to Pep Guardiola.
The talented striker returned to training this week after missing last weekend's 4-1 Premier League hammering of Liverpool due to a groin issue.
Haaland, who has a staggering 42 goals in his first season with the club, will be available to lead the line when second-placed City plays bottom-of-the-table Saints at St. Mary's, according to City manager Guardiola's announcement on Friday.
"He's been training incredibly well the last two days; he will be ready," the Catalan stated.
With Arsenal playing Liverpool on Sunday at Anfield, City can cut Arsenal's lead at the top of the league standings to five points with one more victory on the south coast. City have won seven straight games overall.
The defending champions are seeking for extra titles and have scored 17 goals in their last three games.
Guardiola, however, anticipates a challenging matchup after Southampton defeated City 2-0 at home in the EFL Cup three months ago.
He said, "The patterns are extremely evident. Every side is engaged in a battle for something: either the Premier League or membership in the Premier League.
Each game has a unique aspect, so you need to be prepared. It's always been hard in Southampton. They were far better than us in the match in which we reached 100 points [in 2018]; we've drawn before.
It's difficult, and I suspect tomorrow won't be any different.
Guardiola, meanwhile, does not think that his team will benefit by playing before Arsenal.
When asked whether that might help City, he responded, "I don't think so. Sometimes we played earlier, sometimes later when we were in a title chase with Liverpool. We must succeed in our matches.
Haaland will be available for Man City's match against Southampton, according to Guardiola.
