Marcus Rashford, who leads Manchester United in goals scored, must wait to learn the full extent of an injury he sustained against Everton.
After Marcus Rashford hurt himself during Manchester United's 2-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League, Erik ten Hag expressed his rage about the team's schedule.
Scott McTominay and Anthony Martial scored goals as the Red Devils defeated the struggling Toffees at Old Trafford on Saturday. Rashford left the game with a groin injury.
The injury to United's top scorer "doesn't look well," according to manager Ten Hag, ahead of Thursday's first leg against Sevilla in the Europa League quarterfinals.
The Dutchman attributed the England forward's defeat to playing so many games quickly.
When asked how serious Rashford's injury was, he replied, "I can't say at this time. Maybe I'm not a doctor, but you are.
No matter how horrible or how fantastic it is, we must wait. He definitely started off with a complaint, so we must now wait, establish a diagnosis, and then we may observe. I received the same response when I asked the doctor right now as well.
"Some things you can't avoid, but that was avoidable," he continued.
"Why does the Premier League give us the early Saturday game and the late Sunday night game? It doesn't seem right to me.
"Then you take a chance. The players can't recover that quickly, and we are aware of all the scientific evidence and research to support this. Players require a specific amount of time to recover.
"If there are more [games] back-to-back, the risk increases as it accumulates.
We are currently in this scenario due to the scheduling, and all we can do is hope that [Rashford] is not slipping off.
In 47 games this season, Rashford has scored 28 goals and assisted Martial's goal against Everton.
The schedule we currently have wasn't essential, Ten Hag continued.
