EXPLAINING N'GOLO KANTE'S ABSENCE FROM THE WOLVES GAME IS FRANK LAMPARD

N'Golo Kante won't be playing against Wolves on Saturday, but interim Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has promised supporters it's only a precaution.

The French midfielder, who had been out since the second week of the season with a groin injury, came off the bench for the final thirty minutes of the Graham Potter period before starting the midweek draw with Liverpool under Bruno Saltor.

Kante's absence from the matchday squad list came as a real shock to supporters because he had been expected to keep his spot under Lampard. However, the interim manager has assured them that there is no cause for concern.

Lampard stated that N'Golo was worry-free. "We're good with him; we've got him under control.

He's been absent for a while. We have a method for controlling him. As I had previously attended the club, I was aware of that.

The spotlight is primarily on the Champions League and Chelsea's quarterfinal matchup against the defending champions Real Madrid now that the domestic season is essentially done.

On Wednesday, Chelsea will fly to Madrid for the opening leg of the match, and Lampard is obviously doing everything in his power to make sure Kante is as prepared as possible.

It immediately reminds me of Thomas Tuchel's first season in command and Chelsea's ascent to European glory. Even though Kante had several injuries, he would always come back to play the full 90 minutes in Europe, including two semi-final games against Real Madrid.

Kante did, in fact, take home the award for Player of the Match in both legs and even in the championship game against Manchester City.

The midfielder was rested ahead of Chelsea's Champions League trip to Real Madrid, therefore N'Golo Kante was left out of Frank Lampard's first starting lineup since returning to the club as interim manager.

Raheem Sterling and Conor Gallagher, both England internationals, were added to Lampard's lineup for Saturday's Premier League trip to Wolves.
