As Manchester City and Arsenal battle it out for the Premier League championship, Jack Grealish is experiencing his best stretch of play since joining the champs.
In-form winger Jack Grealish, who took a season to feel at home at Manchester City, now feels like he belongs there, according to Pep Guardiola, who thinks there is still more to come from him.
After moving from Aston Villa for a club-record £100 million in 2021, Grealish originally struggled to maintain consistency, but the Englishman has been fantastic for City in recent weeks.
Grealish has already outperformed his previous season's total of six Premier League goal involvements, helping to contribute nine goals (four goals, five assists) this year, eight of which have come since the World Cup.
In all competitions this season, Kevin De Bruyne (20) is the only City player to have assisted more goals than Grealish's eight, and he both scored and assisted in last week's 4-1 demolition of Liverpool.
Grealish is doing exceptionally well this year, Guardiola told Sky Sports. Yet, we also desire more, as he is aware. You always have the opportunity to improve.
The City manager said when asked what had changed for the 27-year-old this season: "I think he believes in where he belongs.
"He now thinks he is a part of it. He might have thought, upon his arrival, "I'm not good enough after the squad won the Premier League."
"Sometimes players are able to adapt right away, other times they require more time.
"We were aware that Jack would be staying here for a while rather than just one season. He is a crucial member of our team."
Guardiola has mostly used a 4-3-3 formation with Man City, but this season he has also occasionally used a three-at-the-back with the right-back dropping into midfield.
Walker has, however, been passed over lately since John Stones or Rico Lewis are frequently chosen to fill that job.
Guardiola was queried about Walker's readiness for that position prior to Man City's Saturday match at Southampton.
