Social media has gone into a state of chaos and laughter after one of Ghana’s famous radio stations HITZ FM, posted betting odds which entered and they were congratulating their fans who staked. Sports betting is becoming the order of the day as most individuals, companies, and major institutions rely on it as their home source of income. Although there is a bad side to it, one may lose a huge amount of money if the selected teams fail to accomplish what the individual chose in placing his bet.
The good side is that one can place the bet using a small amount of money but can win big if his section enters as he selected during the placement of the bets. We have heard most individuals share their experience from betting and others attribute their success and financial stability to betting. A lot of Ghanaian individual youths on the popular micro-blogging platform Twitter have won massive on football betting. A few of such young individuals include, Enokay a young Ghanaian who has won and earned so much from betting, some of his biggest jackpot wins include winning ghc 10million, Limogh, Betanalyst, and others have also won big from betting and they give out free betting odds on their various websites and Twitter handles for their followers to try their hands on.
Due to this, Ghanaian radio station HITZFM decided to try their luck by picking out the odds of teams that played matched yesterday and posted it on their Twitter handle, it entered and they congratulated all winners who staked the bet. Most Twitter users began attacking and criticizing the post, as to why a media house will be sharing odds on Twitter while they have work to do.
A major issue leading to this whole Twitter saga is the introduction of a 10% tax to be issued on betting wins by the Ghanaian government. According to the Ghanaian youth, most media houses are the main reason why the government is about to introduce such tax because they focus more on unnecessary things rather than doing what's needed of them.
