Virgil van Dijk was struck by 'Van Disney' comments following his role in Arsenal's first goal against Liverpool.

Gabriel Martinelli sprinted towards goal and made it 1-0 for the home team, and the fans wasted no time contributing to Van Dijk's strike.

He ruined Martin Odegaard's attempted pass to Bukayo Saka before failing to intercept the Brazilian, who made no mistake in front of goal.

Fans on social media mercilessly stalked the Dutch defender, calling him 'Van Disney' after Liverpool conceded the league leaders.

One Twitter user wrote:

"Van Disney set up Martinelli to score, this guy is AMAZING, how can we ignore calling him the best defender in the world."

A second tweet:

"Van Disney guard is a comedy."

The third added:

"They compared Van Disney to SERGIO RAMOS."

The fourth said:

"Disney van was washed and really good."

Another joked:

"What a support from Van Disney."

Man Utd welcome Sevilla next week with two Red Devils playing discipline

Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro can both be suspended for the Europa League second leg against Sevilla

Manchester United pair Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro will be suspended for the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Sevilla if they are booked in their opening game on Thursday night.

United host Sevilla at Old Trafford on Thursday night as Erik ten Hag continues his battle for the major title. Sevilla's appearance will be the fourth by a Spanish team to enter the tournament, following a group stage match against Real Sociedad and knockout matches against Barcelona and Real Betis.

The La Liga standings show Sevilla as the weakest of the four - they are 16th and have endured a tough domestic campaign - but the Spanish side have plenty of European experience and will prioritize this tournament, with wins over Fenerbahce and PSV Eindhoven in the previous rounds.

And two United players will need to be especially careful in next week's first leg to avoid being completely eliminated for the tough second leg at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. So far, Fernandes and Casemiro are both due out on Thursday with two yellow cards, but a third yellow card will result in a suspension for the next game. Lisandro Martinez has been suspended for the first leg of the play-off against Barcelona after receiving three cards in the group stage.

Fernandes received two yellow cards in the round of 16, in the second leg against Barcelona and then the first leg against Betis, while Casemiro received a yellow card against former rivals Barca.

Both will be a big miss for United in what is expected to be a tough second leg against Sevilla. Ten Hag has gotten used to the absence of Casemiro, the Brazilian is currently serving a four-match domestic ban for his second red card of the season, following a three-match suspension in January. February. United struggled in midfield without his anchor, but Saturday's win over Everton saw Fernandes deployed in a deeper role and the game decided. The likelihood of his absence would rather be a mystery, with the Portuguese ubiquitous in Ten Hag's squad - he broke a record 4,000 minutes against the Toffees.

Sevilla will have the same three players disciplined on Thursday, with Jordán, Rafa Mir and Montiel all currently receiving two yellow cards. Neither team was suspended for the first leg.
