Bayern Munich break silence on summer transfer for Manchester United target Harry Kane
Harry Kane tops United's transfer list this summer, but Bayern Munich have also been linked with the striker.
Harry Kane could leave Tottenham.
Bayern Munich's chief financial officer has admitted that Harry Kane could be out of the club's price bracket this summer.
The Manchester Evening News revealed last month that Erik ten Hag has named Kane as Manchester United's main striker, with the club needing to strengthen its attacking options due to the squad's current lack of firepower.
Marcus Rashford has scored 27 goals in all competitions this season but aside from the academy graduate, who mainly plays on the left wing, there are concerns other players are not playing their part in front of goal. Wout Weghorst, who has scored twice this season, was on loan temporarily in January and Anthony Martial is the only striker recognized on a permanent contract at Old Trafford, but his injury record very bad.
As he entered the final year of his contract with Tottenham, Kane was seen by Ten Hag as the solution in the transfer market, however, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy did not want to sell the player to direct Premier League rivals.
Bayern Munich are in need of a striker and have been linked with a move to Kane, but the German club's chief financial officer Dr Michael Diederich questioned the move for the 29-year-old citing questions. The club is limited in the market.
When asked recently about a possible summer move for Kane, Diederich said:
"I'm not ruling out anything but can we afford such a transfer and do we want such a transfer? We have to keep an eye on our profits.
Kane has scored 23 Premier League goals this season, meaning only Manchester City's Erling Haaland has scored more. The striker intended to leave Tottenham in 2021 but was blocked.
