The NDC will collapse after the 2024 elections, while the NPP will never relinquish power - Bryan Acheampong.
Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi and Minister for Food and Agriculture, has stated that the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, will never hand over power to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2025.
He stated that the party will do everything possible to keep itself in power.
Bryan Acheampong made this statement to a large crowd of NPP supporters at Mpreaso-Kwahu in the Eastern Region on Saturday, April 8, 2023, following the "Walk to Build A Better Ghana."Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice President, attended the walk.
He warned the NDC that if they try to use threats and violence in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, the NPP will show them that they have the "men."
The NDC party will crumble and crumble and crumble. If the NDC uses threats, violence, and folly in the 2024 election, we will show them that we have the men.We will demonstrate that we have the men. We've got the men![He screamed to emphasize his point]. We, the NPP, will never stand on a platform to hand over power to the NDC. It will never occur! We will do everything in our power to keep the NPP in power."
Former Minister of State in Charge of National Security Bryan Acheampong was recommended for reprimand by the Emil Short Commission, which investigated the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election violence that resulted in the maiming of NDC supporters on January 31, 2023.
He claims, however, that the commission was unjust to him when it eventually blamed him for the violence and recommended that he be reprimanded.
Bryan Acheampong told NPP supporters in Kwahu Mpraeso on Saturday that the government's current economic interventions have begun to yield positive results, as evidenced by the strength of the cedi and the reduction in fuel prices.
He was optimistic that the economy would fully recover if the government secured the IMF deal by June or July.
He claims that this will bring the NDC to its knees because they will have no message to campaign on.
"With the way things are changing, the economy will bounce back, and I am telling you that we will come around that curve and win the 2024 elections hands down." I'm not worried, and I assure the people of Kwahu, the Eastern Region, and Ghanaians in general that the NPP will break the eight because it is possible. I believe we can do it; it is feasible. We have His Excellency's records, and I am not concerned about breaking the eight; I know that 2024 is another election, and we have the record to stand on, and we will win that election," he said.
-He went on to say, "Every election is difficult, not just breaking this eight, I don't see this breaking the eight and all those things, is another election and we have Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's records, all the infrastructure projects going on across the country and we are going to ride on that very hard and win, and where there are gaps, we will explain to the population why those gaps exist."
Bryan Acheampong stated that the majority in parliament will do everything possible to spread the government's good policies.
"Me and my colleagues in parliament, senior members of this party, we will do everything in our power to ensure that the government's good works are properly propagated." Indeed, there are setbacks in life, there are setbacks in government and this is a turbulent time for the world and we are getting our fair share of it. I think we will come around those things and when we campaign hard on the records of H.E Nana Akufo-Addo and we will surely break the eight with that record
