Ruben Dias' bizarre statement about defeat in the 2021 Champions League final left everyone online, including Manchester City fans, confused.
The Blues continue their European adventure against Bayern Munich as they look to claim their first Champions League title.
They came closest to holding the prestigious trophy two seasons ago, when they lost 0-1 to Chelsea in the final.
Pep Guardiola's side succumbed to Thomas Tuchel when they clashed on Tuesday, with the German coach replacing Julian Nagelsmann.
And ahead of the quarter-final first leg at the Etihad, Dias and Guardiola answered questions from the media. Ruben Dias and team-mates step over Chelsea's barrier of honor after losing the Champions League final. Image:

Dias, who played in the final against Chelsea in the 2020/21 season, was asked about the crushing defeat and offered some wise advice.
When he lost to Chelsea in the final, he said:
"A very wise man once told me, we didn't lose in the final, we got closer."
However, the Portuguese defender's comments sent social media into a frenzy as fans tried to explain his statement.
One Twitter user wrote:
"There's no step after the last friend. That's the final hurdle."
A second tweet:
"A wise man is not so wise that you lose your last friend."
The third added:
"Ruben, I love you but you're going to get baked for this."
The fourth said:
"No, you lost again."
Another commented:
"Hmph, saint because you lost."
Dias could be present when Man City host Bayern, as the 25-year-old prepares for a trip to the defending champions Germany. "It will be a well-balanced match between two very good teams," he said. "We knew we were playing against a different team and obviously the Premier League was different from the Bundesliga. We knew it was going to be an even game between us. We were sharp and ready."
The match could also see Joao Cancelo play against his parent club, which was loaned to Bayern during the January transfer window.
Regarding his ability to face his countrymen, he added:
“It would be very strange. It would be great to face him again, especially after our time here together. We've built a special relationship, so we've been in touch, but when the game starts, everyone will be on their side."
