90min can reveal that Chelsea and Ben Chilwell have agreed to extend Chilwell's contract.

Chilwell's current contract is about to expire in two years, and Chelsea's new policy—under which anyone entering the final 24 months of their contracts runs the danger of being sold—attracted interest from rival Premier League team Manchester City.

Chilwell has now agreed to the terms of a contract extension that would keep him with the Blues until 2027, according to sources who have revealed to 90min that Chelsea accelerated renewal discussions with Chilwell as a result of City's interest.

This season, Chilwell has been one of Chelsea's standout performers. He defeated Marc Cucurella, a summer acquisition, to keep his place as the regular starter on the left side of the Blues' defense.

The 26-year-old has managed two goals and three assists in 19 Premier League games this season despite missing the World Cup due to a hamstring ailment.

Talks with midfielder N'Golo Kante, who is close to extending his stay at Chelsea Bridge, continue elsewhere, but a lot of players have hazy summer plans.

It has been made clear that a number of Premier League rivals are ready to take advantage of the situation after midfielder Mason Mount was warned that he will be sold at the end of the season if he does not extend his contract. It is unclear, however, how Graham Potter's departure from the managerial position will affect the situation.

The remaining members of the squad, whose contracts expire in 2024 and 2025, will also be decided upon. These players include Mateo Kovacic, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Christian Pulisic, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, and Conor Gallagher. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is up for transfer, and his contract expires in 2024.

The decision Chelsea makes on their new permanent manager might have a major impact. While club officials search for a long-term solution, Frank Lampard has been hired as the interim manager. Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, and Mauricio Pochettino are among the names on Chelsea's radar.
