Following Villarreal's victory over Real Madrid, Alex Baena, who made a statement on Monday, was allegedly assaulted by Federico Valverde.

Alex Baena, a midfielder for Villarreal, lashed out at the "irreparable" and "unjustifiable" threats made after Federico Valverde, of Real Madrid, allegedly assaulted him after the LaLiga game on Saturday.

Baena contributed actively to the game at the Santiago Bernabeu, helping Villarreal defeat Madrid 3-2 with a late goal from Samuel Chukwueze.

Baena was reportedly attacked while walking to the Villarreal squad bus while using his phone and according to allegations from the sports publication AS.

According to allegations that Valverde assaulted Baena, the latter made disparaging statements about his unborn kid during a previous encounter between the two, which the Villarreal resident vehemently rejects.

In a statement on Sunday, Villarreal confirmed Baena had made a police report and expressed their support for the Spain youth international. Valverde was not specifically mentioned.

On Monday, Baena posted on social media to confirm that he had made a formal police report and to denounce the barrage of insults that had been directed at him and his family.

In a statement, Baena said: "After the game against Real Madrid last Saturday, I was attacked by a fellow employee.

"Following the incident, several statements that were allegedly made by his entourage said that I had wanted harm for a member of his family.

"Since then, there hasn't been any evidence to support the allegations against me, which is the only possible outcome.

"There are lies that hurt more than punches, and the aggression was justified by a catastrophe.

"Threats, insults, and even private letters wishing my family's demise are causing irreparable and unjustifiable harm to my family.

"I reported the incident to the police yesterday. Let justice do what it must. Currently, all I want to do is concentrate on my career and support my club in its endeavors.

On the alleged incident from last Saturday, neither Valverde nor Los Blancos have responded.
