Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes has praised Arsenal youngster Gabriel Martinelli after his performance against Liverpool.

The 21-year-old took to Instagram after their 2-2 draw at Anfield yesterday.

With Arsenal leading 2-0 in the first half, these can be considered two important points lost in the championship race.

However, Liverpool's impressive second-half performance meant Arsenal would be happy to get a point late in the game.

They also took advantage of the second time Mohamed Salah missed the goal from the penalty spot. Aaron Ramsdale's shot was successful, but Salah's shot went wide of the post.

Gabriel Martinelli continued his impressive form with another goal and an assist.

He caused a lot of trouble for Trent Alexander-Arnold and received a lot of praise from the England international.

Bruno Guimaraes has praised his Brazilian team-mate Martinelli as Arsenal failed to win the Premier League after eight games.

How they recover from this defeat will likely determine where the Premier League title goes. The Newcastle man may have had an ulterior motive for his praise, with Martinelli helping drop points for Liverpool in the opening four races.

Martinelli sent an Instagram message to full-time Arsenal fans, saying:

"Horrible, we didn't get three points.

"Anfield is not an easy place to go but we have eight games to fix that. Keep believing.

Guimaraes simply replied by saying:

"Crack", an affectionate term used by Brazilian players, literally translates to "ace".

The £90,000-a-week striker has recently committed his long-term future to the Gunners, which will be a huge boost for Mikel Arteta.

Nigel Reo-Coker claimed after the game that Barcelona and Real Madrid could only dream of a player like Martinelli.

The inclusion of Leandro Trossard in the team could affect Martinelli's game time in the second half of the season.

Despite the Belgian's quality, he could not usurp the 21-year-old. Martinelli has a huge future ahead of him at Arsenal, and potentially in Brazil alongside Guimaraes.

Adding a first championship to his record this season would be a huge achievement and well deserved.
