Paris Saint-Germain has evaded Financial Fair Play sanctions and is therefore free to spend this summer.

Spending was restricted last summer

Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé can leave

WHAT HAPPENED? The Parisians suffered a loss of 369 million euros (£324 million/$401 million) last year, far above the €60 million limit set by UEFA (£53 million/$65 million). They were fined 10 million euros (£9 million / 11 million US dollars) for the conduct and could face other penalties if they breach the rules again. However, record sales of almost 800 million euros (£702 million/868 million) will put the club on the limit and without the risk of a fine, the club will have a great summer. Parisian.

PSG's spending was slashed last summer when the club loaned out a number of players and failed to sign contracts. That looks set to change in the coming months.

AND WHAT'S MORE:

The Parisians have had several targets set in, including young French stars Rando Kolo Muani, Marcus Thuram and Kouadio Kone. One of Lionel Messi or Kylian Mbappe could also leave to earn more money.

AND THEN ? PSG seem to be in for a summer of change. Coach Christophe Galtier could be sacked as the leaders of Ligue 1 are sure to be active in the transfer market.

Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech, Chelsea, January 2022

Tottenham are said to have shown an interest in Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech, which will again put Paris Saint-Germain's pursuit in the bud.

Ziyech's Blues career never really took off. In 102 matches against the London team, the Moroccan player was directly involved in 25 goals.

He will do much more, given his importance at Ajax. New players joining the club in the last two terms means it has slipped down the ranking order. This season, he has only started in the national championship 6 times. He was set to move to PSG in the January transfer window due to not being able to play, although Chelsea's fault for not submitting the correct documents on time forced him to stay.

Recently, reports have suggested that the Ligue 1 side are once again interested in making Ziyech a PSG player. This report suggests that if an offer of £20-30m is made, Chelsea will have no problem letting him go.

However, PSG could spoil their party once again. Indeed, a report from AS Roma Live suggests Tottenham have 'send a signal of appreciation' to the striker.

The main reason for this seems to be the uncertainty regarding Dejan Kulusevski. The report says he has been 'unconvincing' this season. As such, Ziyech could find himself fighting for a starting spot at one of Chelsea's arch-rivals.

The report also states, contrary to previous suggestions, that the Blues will accept a deal of just £18m. This currency will obviously be much more profitable for any party that wants to buy Ziyech. Still, it seems fair to wonder if he's an upgrade on Kulusevski.

The Swede is 22 years old, while Ziyech is 30 and he has been directly involved in 21 goals in just over a Premier League season.

Ziyech has yet to hit that number, after another season and a half with the Spurs man. So while Kulusevski may not be convincing this season, it's hard to see where Ziyech has convinced the north London side enough to be interested. Maybe if he gets in, he can show what he can bring next. However, it may not be worth replacing Kulusevski with a spending around £20m when he can play well again next season.
