Real Madrid will host Chelsea in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on April 11.

Los Blancos advanced to the quarter-finals after beating Liverpool 6-2 on aggregate, while the Premier League side secured their spot after beating Borussia Dortmund.

Before the game, the Blues fired head coach Graham Potter for disappointing form. Frank Lampard will be Chelsea's caretaker manager until the end of the current season, meaning he will lead the Blues in their next clash with Real Madrid.

Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel claims that he has been stunned by Todd Boehly's transfer activity since taking over at Chelsea last year.

He told Dubai Eye FM that the large number of players joining the club under American rule makes it confusing.

Boehly has certainly not been silent in the two transfer windows that have unfolded since his time in west London began.

Prior to this season, they had invested heavily in big-name signings, with Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana joining the club, among others.

It did not yield immediate results and they look to January to try to fill the obvious gaps that have formed in their squad. They have certainly been successful in a number of areas. The additions of Enzo Fernandez and Benoit Badiashile are seen as absolute victories as far as they are concerned.

Mikel Confused at Boehly

However, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have struggled to find game minutes since their arrival, despite great promises of their impact.

Mikel has now claimed that the state of bringing in as many players as possible is ultimately preventing the club from moving forward.

I said:

"I don't think anyone can understand that, people just walk in the door, some of them are not Chelsea players, they're not good with the ball."

Given the reported financial problems that could hit the club at the end of the season, it is unlikely they will be able to spend too much on such a wide range of players this summer. Instead, all eyes will be on who the Blues will sell at the end of this season, with the massive clearance needed at Stamford Bridge to allow any signings.
