"It's impossible," says Thomas Tuchel in response to a Chelsea question ahead of the Manchester City reunion.

Thomas Tuchel makes a comeback as a manager for the first time since being fired by Chelsea in September, leading new club Bayern Munich against Manchester City in the Champions League.

Thomas Tuchel asserts he has nothing to prove on his return to England tonight, seven months after being fired by Chelsea.

Tuchel, who took over at Bayern Munich 18 days ago, was asked if the way his time at Chelsea ended gave him extra motivation to face Manchester City tonight.

"No, it's impossible," said the 49-year-old, who was fired a year after leading Chelsea to Champions League glory. If I'm not feeling motivated for tomorrow, I can simply return my contract. Being a part of a match like this, a Champions League quarter-final, is pure pleasure, pure joy, and a great gift.

"Listen, Tuesday and Wednesday football is where you want to be." If you are there as a player or have the opportunity to be there as a coach, it is a gift from God.

"I really appreciate it, and I feel obligated to give my all in terms of motivation, input, help, and devotion to my players." There is no further motivation required.

"I can tell you that I'm glad to be back. Every day in England, coaching in England and in the Premier League was a joy for me. I'm relieved to be back and in this environment.

"However, when the whistle blows, there will be less enjoyment and sentimental thoughts." We will then end up competing until the final whistle blows."

Tuchel also revealed that he's been having trouble sleeping in the days leading up to Bayern's trip to the Etihad. He revealed that he was hoping for an early night after his team arrived in Manchester, but that this may not be possible as he considers his tactical options.

"I will try to go to bed early," the former Chelsea manager said. I just hope I can get some sleep. Sleep is the best preparation, but it can be difficult to sleep when you're thinking about things.

"I woke up really early this morning and just decided to go to the training ground because I couldn't sleep." I couldn't stop thinking about the game."

Despite never winning the Champions League, Bayern Munich defender Matthijs De Ligt believes City are the strongest team left in the competition.

"If you look at the quality of their matches in the last couple of years, you can say they're one of the the world's strongest De Ligt said.
