While he is under investigation for what seems to be an elbow on Liverpool's Andy Robertson, assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis will not officiate any games.

During Sunday's 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Arsenal, the incident happened right after halftime, with Hatzidakis allegedly reacting after being confronted by Robertson.

According to Keith Hackett, the former PGMOL director, "if he is found guilty of this, his career is ultimately in risk." Was he in fear? I thought as I searched for an explanation as to why he did it. He shouldn't be because he is in a secure setting with lots of protection.

The fact that we are discussing a match official and not a decision but an action by a match official - and he's obviously lost his cool - means that he ultimately behaved in a way that he shouldn't have reacted.

The committee in charge of Premier League referees announced in a statement that the assistant referee who appeared to elbow Liverpool's Andy Robertson during an English Premier League game on Sunday will not be involved in any games until English football's regulatory body investigates the incident.

The incident that occurred at the conclusion of the first half of the Liverpool vs. Arsenal game at Anfield is being looked into by the Football Association (FA).

On the field, Robertson, a 29-year-old defender, approached Constantine Hatzidakis. Video replays appeared to show Hatzidakis reacting by lifting his elbow, which struck the player, as Robertson brushed past him.

Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane slammed Robertson for his response, stating the player "should be more worried about his defense," and former Premier League striker Chris Sutton said the assistant referee would have to be disciplined.

"I'm not sure what he was thinking at all. I believe he has to be prohibited "said Sutton.

Liverpool has been contacted by CNN for comment, but as of the time of publication, no response had been received.

The altercation at the intermission was one of many flashpoints in a tumultuous match at Anfield that ultimately ended in a 2-2 draw.

The unusual incident happened right after halftime during Sunday's thrilling 2-2 tie between Liverpool and Premier League leaders Arsenal at Anfield.

Hatzidakis replied by jabbing his elbow in the direction of Robertson, a Liverpool left-back, who had appeared to confront him on the field and was attempting to seize his arm.

As Hatzidakis was being escorted away by his teammates, Robertson gestured that he had been struck by the Greek player. Robertson later received a yellow card for the bizarre encounter.
