Chelsea 'holds a transfer meeting with Gavi,' who is'very upset' about the situation.
Chelsea are attempting to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding Gavi's contract situation at Barcelona, and have already held preliminary talks.
According to reports, Chelsea has begun talks with Barcelona about signing Gavi during the summer transfer window.
Gavi is one of Barcelona's most prized assets, having emerged from the club's illustrious academy with great promise. The 18-year-old midfielder has already made 87 appearances for Barcelona's first team and appears to be a long-term fixture alongside Pedri.
In September, he committed his future to his boyhood club by signing a lucrative new contract that includes an eye-catching €1 billion (£866 million) release clause. That contract, however, is now null and void because LaLiga refused to ratify it due to the club's ongoing financial difficulties.
Gavi has since changed back to his much less financially rewarding youth contract and, as things currently stand, is free to leave Barcelona as a free agent in the summer. There is considerable doubt about his future at Barcelona, and according to AS, Chelsea is attempting to entice him to move to west London.
According to the Spanish newspaper, Gavi's agent, Ivan de la Pena, met with Chelsea representatives, including sporting director Christopher Vivell, three weeks ago in Madrid. The meeting reportedly went very well, and they are scheduled to meet again soon to discuss a potential contract for Gavi at Chelsea.
Gavi was overjoyed to sign a long-term contract with Barcelona last year, but he is now'very upset' with the club for how they handled the subsequent problems. It is unclear how it will be resolved, with a £178m hole implying that they will be unable to sign new players this summer.
Chelsea have spent more than £550 million on transfers since Todd Boehly's consortium purchased the club from Roman Abramovich in May. They are reportedly attempting to entice Gavi with a sizable signing bonus, which they can afford because they may not have to pay a transfer fee.
For the time being, Gavi remains an important member of Xavi Hernandez's squad, which is expected to win LaLiga this season. He appeared in Monday's 0-0 draw with Girona, which extended their lead over Real Madrid to 13 points.
Xavi has stated unequivocally that he wants the club to do everything possible to keep the player who is continuing to follow in his footsteps. "When we see Gavi competing like this, it thrills us all." "He puts his soul, heart, and character on the field and transmits it to the rest of the team, and he's only 18," he recently stated.
"He possessed exceptional leadership abilities." When he plays football, he exudes courage and rage, and it's a sight to behold. I've said it before, but I never get tired of praising him. Hopefully, he will never stop doing this because he knows no bounds."
