Victor Osimhen has been open about his swap deal with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland and why former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba is his footballing inspiration
Victor Osimhen has admitted his admiration for Erling Haaland amid rumors regarding the Nigeria international's move to the Premier League this summer.
Osimhen, 24, has scored 21 goals in 23 Serie A appearances this season and is the current top scorer in the Italian top flight, alongside Lautaro Martinez (14) and Ademola Lookman (13). in the top three.
His form has seen him move to Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea, while Paris Saint-Germain are also plotting a move to the talented striker. Osimhen could be the most sought-after striker in the summer transfer window with his scoring record so far this season.
Comparisons are also drawn to Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, who has made his name in the Premier League 30 times this season. In a recent interview, Osimhen talked about the Norwegian ace and when he got his conversation with the City man.
"I played with Leo Ostigard in Napoli, Haaland's very good friend, and played for Norway with him," Osimhen told the Daily Mail. "I'm a Bundesliga fan, so I've been a fan for a while and every weekend he seems to score two, three, four goals. Ostigard tells me a lot about him, he trains. how well he trained, then one day he said:
"If you want, I can bring his shirt for you." I said:

"So he talked to Haaland, who also asked for my shirts, so we traded them over to Ostigard. Osimhen also talked about one of his inspirational characters, Didier Drogba. He praised the former Chelsea star for inspiring him to succeed.
He added:
"When I scored 10 goals and won the Golden Boot at the 2015 U17 World Cup, one of the Nigerian staff showed me a tweet from Drogba. It said 'Congrats Victor, I wish you all the best. the most beautiful in the future.'
"I was shocked. I never thought someone like Didier Drogba would tweet those words to a rising young striker. It gave me a whole new drive to succeed.
"Trust me, he's very helpful. One morning last year, I woke up and checked my Instagram to see a message from him, complimenting me but saying I still have a long way to go. Really. great to get in touch with him i'm trying to emulate my play based on his and there's a lot i can learn from his play and add to my play , so he has nothing better for a young player."
