THE LOSS TO MAN CITY WAS ENJOYABLE FOR TUCHEL: I DEVELOPED FEELINGS FOR MY TEAM.

Bayern Munich was "brutally punished" by Manchester City, but coach Thomas Tuchel was proud of his team's effort despite their defeat.

The devastating 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Tuesday, which Thomas Tuchel referred to as "a lot of pleasure," caused him to "fall in love" with Bayern Munich.

Bayern's chances of reaching the Champions League semifinals appear to be in ruins after a lopsided result in the first leg of their last-eight match in Manchester.

Opta counted four significant opportunities for City compared to one for Bayern, making City the undisputed winners.

Although City was forced to play without the ball, the Bundesliga powerhouses controlled 56% of the action; only four times under Pep Guardiola have they seen less of it.

That may have been the reason for Tuchel's excitement back then, as the coach who guided Chelsea to a victory over City in the 2021 final reveled in a defeat that will probably cost his new team.

I completely disagree with the outcome, he said to Prime Video. "In periods where we were the superior team, we were penalized. Simply put, today's punishment was terrible.

"Up until we lost 2-0, I believed our performance was excellent. I don't want to downplay the outcome; I thought the team played exceptionally well up to the 70th minute.

"We gave up one or two too many goals, in my opinion, and at least one was merited. I believe our players' form and confidence could have used some improvement. Of course, the outcome is disappointing for us.

"The way my squad played today made me a little more in love with them. Despite how bizarre that may sound, that was a lot of fun."

At the Etihad Stadium, a dominant Manchester City crushed 10-time defending Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich by a score of 3-0.

It was a difficult night for the red-clad players and a desperate one for Dayot Upamecano; it was a match to remember for City and possibly the turning point predicted by doomsayers.
