Man United centre-back returns from injury against Everton
Casemiro celebrates after scoring for Manchester United with team-mate Christian Eriksen
Manchester United midfielders Casemiro and Christian Eriksen all return at the right time
Christian Eriksen believes Casemiro's composure and control are key assets for the Manchester United midfielder ahead of the Brazilian's much-anticipated return to the team.
The Dane returned from three months of injury against Everton at Old Trafford last weekend, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 win. Casemiro is set to return to domestic action at Nottingham Forest on Sunday, while both could feature against Sevilla in the first leg of this week's Europa League quarter-final.
Eriksen, 31, has praised the former Real Madrid man's influence on the United squad but insists he brings more than big game experience and trophies.
“In terms of football, he brings a little bit of composure, a little bit of rotation on the pitch and a little bit of awareness in midfield. A little bit of control over the game,” Eriksen said on the latest episode of the UTD Podcast. “Casemiro arrives with his trophy cabinet, experience and bad English! He's a lovely guy, and at the same time, he's a winner and he's a lovely player."
Eriksen returned to United in search of FA Cup and Europa League glory after having won the Carabao Cup. Erik ten Hag's side will also aim to finish in the top four in the Premier League. And the former Brentford player is happy to have something to fight for as he is about to start his first game since January.
"I told my teammates to keep winning so there are more games for me when I come back," he said. "It's also part of the mindset - the more games they win, the more trophies they win, the more games I have and the chance to play in the final. For me, it's a good time to come back, to be ready. ready for the final push.
