Six eminent persons have received awards for their services to maintaining peace and stability in the nation.

They include the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdul Mumin Haroun, the Paramount Chief of Asante Asokore, Nana Professor Susubribi Krobea Asante, the Member of Parliament for Adentan, Mohammed Adamu Ramadan, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid, the Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Adelaide Anno-Kumi, and the Director of the Centre for Interfaith Studies at the Akr

They were celebrated last Friday in Accra at the 11th Dialogue and Peace Iftar Dinner and Awards.

The National Peace Council (NPC) and TUDEC-Ghana, a non-governmental organization with scientific, cultural, philanthropic, and educational objectives, jointly planned the event.

Commitment

According to George Amoh, executive secretary of the National Peace Council, the unequal distribution of money across international borders has only served to increase the injustices, inequities, discrimination, selfishness, greed, and hatred that still exist in the world today.

"Religious and chieftaincy violence persists because some people wish to disregard established laws in order to further their own interests." Previously close friends have been torn apart by riches, power, and money and occasionally turned into foes. People are using social media to preach hate and polarize society in today's technologically advanced world, he claimed.

Despite these obstacles, the National Peace Council, according to Mr. Amoh, will continue to build forums for participants in the peace architecture to exchange information and concepts that will aid in the prevention, management, and resolution of conflicts and enable people of all backgrounds, faiths, and ideologies to play their parts in tolerance for opposing viewpoints and peaceful coexistence.

He said, "We are optimistic that we will use this event to reassert our collective commitment to be peacemakers in our homes, places of employment, and communities in order to contribute to the peace of Ghana and the globe.

Treasure

Dr. Nuamah Nabil, a founding member of TUDEC, said the nation's tranquility was a priceless asset that needed to be protected and fostered.

That, he claimed, was essential because there were outside forces envious of the nation's successes as a symbol of religious tolerance, harmony, and peace who wished to foment discord and destabilize the nation.

In order to avoid becoming like others, he said, "TUDEC made it our primary duty to annually convene stakeholders and remind ourselves that even if we are enjoying peace in this nation, we have to intentionally nurture it and find ways to make it better.

In order to promote the idea of mutual understanding and peaceful coexistence among all members of different religions and tribes, Dr. Nabil stated TUDEC will continue to engage with all stakeholders. He said that "when people from different countries come together, there is a chance for peace."
