In Accra's Haatso neighborhood, Academic City University College and four partners organized a free medical screening event for attendees from the university's student body and the neighborhood.
In order to help them stay healthy and stave off diseases, it was designed to give them access to important health resources and services.
The assisting partners were the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Appointed Time Printing, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammernarbeit (GIZ), and Add Pharmacy.
A total of 500 people attended the event, including Academic City students and employees as well as people from Haatso, Bohye, and the other communities who took advantage of the complimentary health screenings supported by the DeveloPPP initiative on behalf of the German government.
Screening
The examination addressed a variety of topics, including cholesterol readings, blood sugar levels, eye and dental screenings, hepatitis B testing and vaccine, COVID-19 immunization, and free enrollment and renewal in the National Health Insurance Scheme.
Participants also got the chance to speak with medical professionals and get health recommendations and pointers on how to maintain excellent health.
"At Academic City, we recognize that our mission to provide our students with a world-class education is dependent upon their health," said Dr. Abena Engmann, dean of student and community affairs. We planned this free health check for our community because we think that success depends on having a healthy body and mind.
Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, the chief executive of the Ga East Municipal Assembly, praised Academic City and its collaborators for providing free health screenings to encourage healthy living in the neighborhood.
The Academic City University College has proven that it is dedicated to advancing the health and wellbeing of its neighbors.
The university must make every effort to promote healthy lifestyle choices since they may make people happier and more successful as well as improve the university community as a whole.
"I urge everyone to adopt preventative steps and take control of their health," she added.
