Stella Gyimaah Larbi, the 2022 Nation's Best Teacher, has advised pupils to improve their soft skills in order to succeed.
She said that while it was important to develop one's abilities, talents, and potential, one's soft skills, such as emotional intelligence and confidence, too needed to be honed and developed if they were to help one realize their aspirations.
At a student summit, Ms. Larbi advised His Majesty Senior High School students that in order to stand out from their peers and fulfill their aspirations, they needed to be time-conscious, able to handle issues quickly, and emotionally sophisticated.
"Young people need to develop soft skills like emotional intelligence, confidence, and problem-solving, among others, to be the best in whatever field they choose to follow, but if they don't have these, it gets hard to deal with and people could look down on you," she added.
The winner of the national best teacher award urged her fellow educators to pay close attention to students' needs and abilities and to support them in developing their abilities.
"Teachers perform several roles, including that of counselors and psychologists, and occasionally you will have to sit the child down and try to enter his or her head to assist the youngster in developing these abilities, especially their confidence," she added.

Summit
The summit, known as the "skills impact summit," aimed to inspire and teach students how to maximize their abilities and potential in order to realize their goals and objectives.
The summit, which was sponsored by the 2022 National Best Teacher, also saw certain His Majesty's SHS instructors honored for their commitment to teaching and hard work.
According to Ms. Larbi, the purpose of the award is to inspire teachers and let them know that their hard work is appreciated.
She noted that the award was intended to inspire other teachers to put in extra effort to have a positive influence on the lives of the pupils they educate.
Ms. Larbi urged community leaders and members of society at large to acknowledge the work that teachers put forth in order to motivate them to do more.
