The Princess Marie Louise Children's Hospital in Accra has received donations from the Accra City Hotel totaling GH10,000 for a variety of things.

The supplies included 50 bedsheets, 50 pillows, 60 packs of jollof rice, gallons of liquid soap, detergent, and disinfectant, packs of 0.5 liters of water, and packs of non-alcoholic drinks.

The contribution was made to help the hospital fight infections and enhance the clean and welcoming aspects of the medical setting.

At a brief ceremony, Divine Martey, general manager of Accra City Hotel, explained that the contribution was made in honor of Easter to assist the hospital's operations as part of the hotel's corporate social responsibility to the community.

"The hotel has succeeded and continually kept itself relevant in the sector for over 35 years," he added. "This is a symbol for society."

According to Mr. Martey, the hotel's management decided to support the hospital since it is one of the few pediatric hospitals in the nation to receive the most referrals.

He said that Bel Aqua and Bel beverages' manufacturer, Blow Chem Industries Ltd., helped make the contribution.

Gratitude and more assistance

Dr. Maame Yaa Nyarko, the hospital's medical director, thanked the hotel and noted that the supplies met some of the facility's fundamental requirements.

"The contribution has come at the perfect moment and would go a great way to ease the burden on management, especially during this Christmas season," she added.

Dr. Nyarko gave the Accra City Hotel team his word that the supplies would be delivered to the intended recipients and put to good use for the benefit of the employees and patients.

Joanita da Pilma, the hospital's administrator, expressed gratitude for the assistance and invited more philanthropic people and organizations to follow suit.

Ms. da Pilma stated that more help would be very appreciated since the hospital was in dire need of it for other facilities, such as swivel chairs for consulting rooms, medical personnel, and physical infrastructure.
